Mr. McCoy graduated from Boise State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is an ACTAR Certified Accident Reconstructionist. He has 200 hours of classroom training in crash reconstruction.
EXPERIENCE INCLUDES:
Mr. McCoy performs vehicular crash investigations and reconstructions, including accidents involving passenger vehicles, tractor-trailers, bicycles, motorcycles, and pedestrians. He performs time and position analysis, avoidance analysis, speed determination, braking analysis, and sight restriction analysis. He is also experienced in performing mechanical inspections of passenger vehicles and heavy trucks, including air-brake systems. He performs research and analysis for crash investigations and reconstructions.
Mr. McCoy is a certified Bosch CDR technician and has experience imaging data from passenger vehicle event data recorders (EDRs). He is experienced in imaging data from Heavy Truck EDRs.
Mr. McCoy is experienced and trained in the use of terrestrial laser scanners for forensic documentation. Mr. McCoy has extensive experience and training in forensic methods regarding the processing of raw inspection including data from laser scanners and drones. Mr. McCoy is an accomplished Virtual Crash 5 user for crash simulations and animations.
He also assists with failure analysis of mechanical systems and components.
Mr. McCoy is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE).
